Hudson Month 23

In a nutshell, Hudson...
  • has a favorite book!!!! He LOVES the book May I Please Have a Cookie? He loves reading it every night, along with like six other books! I am so happy he enjoys story time as much as lily did when she was his age.
  • He is still loving bath time no matter what time of day it is and no matter what mood he is in. He could be in the middle of the worst meltdown and if I say "bath time" his meltdown comest to a halt, and then he books to the bathroom. All we need now if for him to start stripping on his own lol.
  • has gotten into the habit of pissing right after I take his diaper off right before bath time. The first time it happened It took me by surprise. Well, all of the times it's taken me by surprise but the weird thing is that he only does it while the bath is filling up. So after like what felt like the 100th time (probably only the 3rd lol) I now wait until the bath is ready for them to get in, AND then I take his diaper off. Almost immediately, he'll watch his pee come out of his dingaling and plays with the stream. I know. Gross. lol
  • As far as vocabulary, it seems as though he is making an effort to try to say more words but it's all a jumbled mess that we still can't decipher HIS language yet. It's work in progress for both parties lol. I have to remind myself that lily had that awkward what-the-heck-is-she-saying stage that finally only us understood. He's trying to get to that point but he is more open about how frustrated he feels about our communication issues.

Hudson Month 22

In a nutshell, Hudson

  • I think this month can be labeled as his "word" explosion but without the spoken element of it. I mean, he can identify so many things but he still hasn't formed the words to spit them out. Hopefully the actual word explosion will come soon
  • surprised me during storytime one night with a book called Amazing Animals, where you press the animal button and it makes the animal sound. As I read the pages for each animal and said, "touch the puppy," he actually pressed the RIGHT button! He pressed the right button for all of the animals! Where did THAT come from?
  • Also, all of a sudden he started naming colors! Well, as good as a boy his age could say them. He can identify colors now!!
  • He is still getting frustrated and he's getting "cool off time" by putting him in his room and counting loudly to ten (sometimes it is more than ten seconds lol)
  • is beginning story time as his nighttime routine after bath.

Hudson Month 21

In a nutshell, Hudson
  • Learned how to jump
  • His vocabulary is expanding to say the beginning sounds of words, more syllables. He has been practicing his colors and can say puhpuh for purple. When I ask him to identify his parts of the body, he can with ease. He is eager to learn the world around him now.
  • He is more understanding of the commands we are giving him
  • He is becoming a bit less tantrumy because he is more complacent with the directions we give him. We are beginning the journey to reasoning with him and it seems to get him to calm down.
  • He is becoming a better climber
  • He loves all food right now.
  • He loves to pretend play with Lily. He is still her number one fan! He grabs her hand when he wants to go to her room and play. It's cool to watch them interact with one another.
  • Loves to race with lily. If I start saying on your marks, get set, go! He'll start running!
  • He loves balls!

Hudson month 20

In a nutshell, Hudson...

  • Had a big fall!! He was playing with Lily and tried to climb the bed but he lost his footing and slipped, hitting his chin on the bed frame and biting the shit out of his tongue. It was so bad Ed said there was blood everywhere! Ed called me to come home from work (11/29) and then I took him to urgent care. Thankfully he didn't require stitches but he is in a lot of pain. Drinking his bottle is uncomfortable as well as sucking his thumb. Poor bubba!
  • Also this month he started his transition into his big boy bed. It was a rocky start being that he had his tongue accident and then, of course, he got sick. Needless to say though, he's been doing a great job and Ed is handling business with putting him to bed at night. For some odd reason this kid loses it when I leave the room.

Hudson month 19

In a nutshell, Hudson is...
  • Trying his best to feed himself using utensils. He gets really messy but you could see how happy he is feeding himself and going at his pace.
  • He has been teething like a mofo. Bottom molars finally broke through. He's been through some rough times at night.
  • Snotty from mom getting sick earlier this month (oct).
  • This was his first official Halloween and he had a blast for a one and a half year old. Granted I had to cart him around in the umbrella stroller but overall he did well. Lily was a police officer this year. She had a great time as well.

Hudson month 18

In a nutshell, Hudson...

  • Can slide off slide at home and at park does it on his belly but needs to be prompted to get on his butt and then turn over on his belly. He still doesn't play with Lily when we take them to the park. His favorite thing to do at park is going on the swings.
  • We are still waiting on the year and a half word explosion we experienced with Lily. He is a boy of few words but many emotions, not to mention he is stubborn as heck. I don't know where he gets that from lol.
  • At this age, however, he understands more verbal directions than Lily did which is pretty cool.
