Hudson Month 21

In a nutshell, Hudson
  • Learned how to jump
  • His vocabulary is expanding to say the beginning sounds of words, more syllables. He has been practicing his colors and can say puhpuh for purple. When I ask him to identify his parts of the body, he can with ease. He is eager to learn the world around him now.
  • He is more understanding of the commands we are giving him
  • He is becoming a bit less tantrumy because he is more complacent with the directions we give him. We are beginning the journey to reasoning with him and it seems to get him to calm down.
  • He is becoming a better climber
  • He loves all food right now.
  • He loves to pretend play with Lily. He is still her number one fan! He grabs her hand when he wants to go to her room and play. It's cool to watch them interact with one another.
  • Loves to race with lily. If I start saying on your marks, get set, go! He'll start running!
  • He loves balls!

Hudson month 20

In a nutshell, Hudson...

  • Had a big fall!! He was playing with Lily and tried to climb the bed but he lost his footing and slipped, hitting his chin on the bed frame and biting the shit out of his tongue. It was so bad Ed said there was blood everywhere! Ed called me to come home from work (11/29) and then I took him to urgent care. Thankfully he didn't require stitches but he is in a lot of pain. Drinking his bottle is uncomfortable as well as sucking his thumb. Poor bubba!
  • Also this month he started his transition into his big boy bed. It was a rocky start being that he had his tongue accident and then, of course, he got sick. Needless to say though, he's been doing a great job and Ed is handling business with putting him to bed at night. For some odd reason this kid loses it when I leave the room.

Hudson month 19

In a nutshell, Hudson is...
  • Trying his best to feed himself using utensils. He gets really messy but you could see how happy he is feeding himself and going at his pace.
  • He has been teething like a mofo. Bottom molars finally broke through. He's been through some rough times at night.
  • Snotty from mom getting sick earlier this month (oct).
  • This was his first official Halloween and he had a blast for a one and a half year old. Granted I had to cart him around in the umbrella stroller but overall he did well. Lily was a police officer this year. She had a great time as well.

Hudson month 18

In a nutshell, Hudson...

  • Can slide off slide at home and at park does it on his belly but needs to be prompted to get on his butt and then turn over on his belly. He still doesn't play with Lily when we take them to the park. His favorite thing to do at park is going on the swings.
  • We are still waiting on the year and a half word explosion we experienced with Lily. He is a boy of few words but many emotions, not to mention he is stubborn as heck. I don't know where he gets that from lol.
  • At this age, however, he understands more verbal directions than Lily did which is pretty cool.

Hudson Month 17

This month, Hudson...

  • Is getting better at kicking a ball and shooting a ball through the kid sizes basketball hoop
  • Understands more phrases but his language development is still limited. Still making an effort to teach him signs. New words this month are help and up. He also makes an effort to say lily.
  • Loves to dance and loves music. Every time he hears a beat he starts grooving.
  • He loves running around but still handles himself like a drunk, stumbling everywhere and getting hurt here and there.
  • Likes to race with lily. I would say "On your marks, get set, GO!" And he books it!
  • He is learning how to play with Legos and blocks although he gets easily frustrated and starts throwing things. We are working on his temper lol
  • Bottom molars are starting to emerge. He's had some rough nights because of it.
  • He's getting better at playing with blocks and playdoh and he is trying more to jump. Still not successful off two feet but it's a start.

Hudson Month 16

This month, Hudson...

  • Wants to feed himself. All. The. Time. Which makes a mess but at least he's trying to be independent.
  • Is being a punk for naps and sleep. While I was working, I would "bottle bomb" him before taking off to give Ed a couple more hours of sleep. Since I've been on vacation, every time I heard Hudson I bottle bombed him to get that extra hour of sleep and then he had quite a few bottles throughout the day. Needless to say, I had to take him to the doctor for another issue and it turns out he's at 33 pounds!! Lily is like 37 pounds!! So the doctor just said to cut back on milks. We have also switched him to low fat milk and curtailed his intake. He is not happy about it.
  • He is pushing the limits of what is not acceptable to us.
  • He is a drooling machine!! I bet it's his molars.

Hudson Month 15

This month, Hudson's...

  • Officially a climber! He can climb Ed's chair, other chairs around the house and the couch.
  • And he also found his penis.
  • He's getting the hang of what is involved in getting dressed. He knows to put his arms through the arm holes. Pretty cool.
  • He says ech for Leche (milk). Can tell us when he's taken a shit by saying tahtah, although he says tahtah for caca, bath time, the dog, and dada. It's not consistent but it is a start.
  • Likes to sit on the potty when I'm in the bathroom. I sing him the Daniel  tiger song for potty time and he just stares at me until I'm done singing. When I ask him if he's done he says dah!
  • We are practicing how to share things with him because he loses his shit every time something is taken from him. We want to fix this shit STAT.
  • He's playing with the dog more. He'll grab a ball and say dah and throws the ball. It's work in progress.
  • As of now it seems as though all he can say is dah for everything he wants. He says dis and dat too. Oh, and let's not forget dah for dog lol.
  • He is scribbling on the walls with chalk. Better than crayons and colored pencils like lily did.
  • When he's tantrum throwing, this kid will throw himself on the ground and cry loudly. That's when we pick him up and put him in our room and shut the door for a little bit so he can reset himself. So far it has worked.
  • Food wise this kid is an eating machine. Still eating regular people food. He has been eating snack baggies all by himself for these past few months without squishing the stuff out of the bag.
  • Sleep schedule is totally screwed. He's going to bed later and there are nights when he loses his shit when we out him down for naps or sleep.
  • He had his first trip to Sky Zone this month and he had a blast! So much that he took a three hour nap and for sleep time he went down at 8:30pm and didn't wake up until almost 10am the next day! Unbelievable!!

  • Is trying I feed himself with a spoon
  • Can understand the following phrases: Do you want bath time? Pee pee in the potty?  (He'll start walking to the bathroom for both of these) Throw the ball ( he attempts to say dog first and then throws the ball when the dog is around) Do you want cheese? ( he signs cheese)Are you sleepy? (he will sign sleepy) Throw it in the trash (he will open the doors under the sink to throw what ever he has in his hand away)
  • He runs and plays peekaboo rather well.
  • When I sing a Daniel tiger song about trucks going honk and cars going beep beep and police cars go weehoo weehoo, he will make the siren sound.
  • He loves to watch the storybots ABC compilation and dances to their mini songs
  • Calls me mah! Just like Will Ferrell in wedding crashes when he was asking his mom for meatloaf. He's working on lily. He's been calling Ed dada.
  • He attempts to say tah-tah for anything that he finds on the carpet that he's not supposed to put in his mouth as well for dad and bath time and when he's pooped. Everything sounds the same right now.
  • He is attempting to have conversations with us although we have no clue what he's babbling about.
  • He laughs at ANYTHING. Seriously. It's hilarious. He likes me to squish him while he's on the couch. I'll be sitting and then I'll lean back on him.
  • He's being a jerk when it comes to diaper changes. He squirms so badly that in one of those he had taken a huge shit and the put his feet in it. Had to give him a bath.
  • He is ridiculously ticklish.

Hudson month 13

This month, Hudson...

  • Has made the first signs of running.
  • He understands the word shoes and when I say it and sign it he sits down on the floor to get his shoes on because it means he is going outside.
  • Is literally crying over everything. Lily needs to go to the bathroom, he cries. I get home and don't pick him up, he cries. Ed or I go to the kitchen to get him something to eat, he cries. Bottom line, he's being a poop wad. I hope this phase ends soon because it's driving us crazy.
  • He can climb down from the couches feet first on his belly.
  • Enjoys playing tag or running around the house while I'm running around with lily.

Hudson month 12

This month Hudson...
  • Began stacking blocks
  • Walked independently
  • Can sign more, done, cheese, water and food in his own way. Definitely makes things less frustrating for everyone.
  • Loves following lily EVERYWHERE. It's cool to watch.
  • Is now on regular milk but he won't drink it cold. It has to be warmed up.
  • Still has a hard time drinking from sippy cup and straw cups. He's successful in the getting liquid out but I think because the drink is cold it falls right out of his mouth. Hopefully he gets it together because the entire front of his shirt  is wet after drinking from a cup.
  • Can go from a sitting to teepee position in order to stand up. He doesn't need furniture to come to a standing position.
  • Can say mama and dada and is attempting to say yiyi for lily.
  • Can also say hat, dog, watch, caca, and cheese in his own way.

Some stats to note...
Hudson weighs 27 lbs 12.5oz and is 31.1 inches long.
Lily at this age weighed 24 lbs  and was 29.5 inches long.
