POW #1

So Lily's first week of life came with a case of jaundice. Unfortunately for her, I was not producing any milk the first five days of her life but she was latching on like a fiend. Needless to say we had to supplement with formula through a ridiculous syringe and tube we had to put in her mouth as she latched on to my boob...very frustrating for Ed and myself. And don't get me started on the lactation specialists...I'll probably be talking about that later...no...you know what...I'm not...that would just be a waste of time on my part. So anywho, because Lily was not getting enough nourishment she was not getting rid of the excess bilirubin in her system, causing her to develop jaundice. So, if you are wondering why she is glowing in the picture above, it is because the doctor requested that she use a bili blanket, which is a UV blanket to help her body redirect the bilirubin to her poop so she could get rid of it. By the end of the week, the jaundice was gone! Woot!
