Well, shortly after Lily (June 11) and Ed's birthday (July 6), I found out I was pregnant...again! I'm not going to say it was unexpected, since we had talks about adding to our family for quite some time. However, we were not expecting it to be so soon!!! And this time, I just peed on a cheap stick and the results were immediate!!! We were hoping to get knocked up like in September or somewhere close to that so that I'd be out in the summer again but I guess it had to be earlier. So, since this is not my first rodeo, I am not going to do the full on play-by-play I did with Lily, but I will post about the major checkpoints in this pregnancy.
First trimester has come and gone (until Sept 25) and it was very similar to being pregnant with Lily. Nausea, lack of appetite, sour taste in my mouth constantly and hugging the white throne between the hours of 4-7 pm every day. Eating mostly fried foods like taquitos and french fries and fried chicken was a new development. Definitely not healthy food but something that kept the nausea at bay for just a bit. My go-to fruit this time was peaches but now that peach season is over, canned peaches will do.
Second trimester began Sept 26. The nausea began to subside slowly but it's been replaced with a constant feeling of bloatedness. When going through belly pics from Lily pregnancy, I definitely look larger bellywise than the corresponding belly pic with her. Crazy! Now because I'm 35 and my eggs are a bit on the "mature" side, I had to see a genetics counselor and we decided to do the amniocentesis to make sure baby #2 didn't have any genetic defects. Our appt was October 14th and because it was during the day I went by myself. After it was all said and done the whole procedure was less "traumatic" than the diagram the genetics counselor showed me the week prior to the appt. Yes it was a bit uncomfortable but I didn't leave the appt in mega pain and tears. So if I had to do it again to give me piece of mind on the genetic make up of another baby, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
This is baby #2 at week 16. Yea, I know, all babies look the same on these darn ultrasound pics lol. Glad it wasn't flipping us off but it was real cool to see its fingers move! lol
So now we are at week 18 and our next appt is on Veteran's Day (Nov 11) for our next ultrasound with the Amnio doctor to discuss the results further and see what we are having. We already got a call with the amnio results and everything came back normal so we are super relieved and trekking on!
Thanks for tuning in!
